Shamrock Flower Pot Tutorial

I was going to wait to post this until tomorrow, but I couldn't wait to show these cute shamrock pots off! :)

This project is super kid friendly and so easy to make. Hannah and I made these Shamrock flower pots together. We had fun making them and she can't wait to give them to her grandparents. These would also be fun to give to your child's teacher for St. Patrick's Day.

I am loving how they turned out and they really are super easy. I had all of the supplies on hand, and it only took about 15 minutes to make each pot.

**If you are going to make this with your child and want them to be more involved, use regular craft glue instead of hot glue.
**substitute wooden dowels with pipe cleaners
**Let them cut out shamrocks and do the tracing.

If you are going to make this with your child, be sure to be cautious when using the hot glue.

Tutorial:

Supplies Needed

1 terra cotta pot. I used the really small ones.
Green paint
Wooden dowel, or a pipe cleaner
Ribbon
2 Pieces of green cardstock
Hot glue
Button
Floral Foam
Candy To fill your pot

Step 1: Paint your pots

Hannah helped me paint the pots. This was her favorite part. :)

2. Cut out your shamrocks and use distressing ink on the edges. I just free-handed both shamrocks. You can find templates online if you don't feel comfortable free handing them.

3. Glue your shamrocks together.

4. Cut your wooden dowel to about 5-6 inches.

5. Wrap dowel with ribbon and hot glue to keep in tact. Or to make this part more kid-friendly you could use a pipe cleaner.

6. Hot glue dowel to the back of shamrock.

7. Put some hot glue in the bottom of your pot

8. Place a small block of floral foam in the bottom and stick your dowel in the center.

8. Cover your floral foam with paper.

9. Glue a button on the shamrock.
10. Fill your pot with candy and tie a ribbon on the dowel!

I think we are officially ready for St. Patricks Day! :)

St. Patrick's Day Crafts

Last year I made a few St. Patrick's Day crafts and I just wanted to share them again in case you are still looking for something festive to make for March. :)

So I decided I shouldn't just skip right over St. Patrick's Day and go straight to spring (although, I am sooo ready for spring!!!) I made this "lucky" board! It is a lot like my "be mine" board, but for St. Patrick's Day. I really do like St. Patrick's Day, but I have never really decorated for it. So here it goes! I call it my "lucky board" ...pretty original huh? :)

You can find the tutorial here

This is my Shamrock Tree. I think I'm obsessed with trees. Scratch that, I KNOW I'm obsessed with them. I can't get enough of them. :) If you want to make this project you can find the tutorial here.

Here are a few projects from other crafters that are great for St. Patrick's Day

This onesie is so darn cute! You can find the tutorial here.

There are so many free printables going around and I thought this one was really cute! You can find it here.

Lastly, I love everything going on in this mantle! How fun and festive! You can find it here.

I hope I gave you a little inspiration to make your home festive for the upcoming Holiday!

Have a good weekend everyone, see you all Monday!

Ruffled Shamrock Shirt

I decided to pull out my sewing machine the other day. Whenever I do this I almost always regret it. Sewing just doesn't come naturally to me. You might laugh at this, but I had no idea how to make a ruffle until a week ago! It wasn't until this video tutorial that I finally found enough courage to try it out! To tell you the truth--it wasn't hard at all. I was actually pretty surprised that a ruffle could be that easy.

So I have been hard at work making ruffles. I made Hannah a ruffled heart shirt for Valentine's Day. It was so easy I decided to try my hand at a Shamrock ruffled shirt. It took a lot longer than I had expected, but I eventually got through it. I am having a hard time making my ruffles all look the same. Some of them are really tight, and others are not as tight.

Anyways, since I made Hannah this shirt, I had to make Charlie a little onsie to match. Don't worry his is NOT ruffled! :) His is just appliqued.

I am afraid to say that I may be addicted to ruffles!

Shamrock Tree with tutorial!

The other day I was at Michael's, which was kind of weird for me. I only go to Michael's when I can't find what I need at Robert's. So I was going down their dollar aisle and found so many cool things for a dollar! I snatched up a ton of things and can't wait to show you!

Anyways, I've made another St. Patrick's Day Project! Only this one only cost me $2.00 to make!!! I love it!!! It is so fun and cute and it was so easy to make!

Here is the tutorial:

Supplies Needed:

1 4x6 unfinshed wood frame (I found mine at Michael's for a buck!)
Paint
3 pieces of coordinating green scrapbook paper
buttons
ribbon
mod podge
hot glue
distressing ink

step 1: Take the inside out of your frame. We are going to mod podge everything on to this thick piece of chipboard.

Step 2: Paint your frame. I only did the sides and the inside where i can see. You will be coverin the rest with paper.

Step 3: While your paint is drying, cut out a piece of 4x6 paper that you want to use as your background. Then mod podge your piece of chipboard and place your piece of 4x6 paper on top and mod podge over it. This will seal the edges.

Step 4: While your mod podge is drying, cut out your tree, shamrocks, and the word "luck" (i used alphalicious with a 1 inch cut.)

Step 5: After your paint is dry, trace your frame onto the back of a piece of scrapbook paper that you want for the front of your frame and the cut it out.

Step 6: Apply a thin layer of mod podge on your frame and place the paper on top of that. Then apply another thin layer of mod podge on top of the paper.

Step 7: While your mod podge is drying, place your tree and shamrocks on your piece of 4x6 chipboard and mod podge the pieces on the way that you like it. Also hot glue on some buttons for more texture.

Step 8: Mod podge the word luck on your frame and hot glue some ribbon and buttons on the top.

Step 9: Distress!!!! I distressed mine like crazy! (MAKE SURE YOU DO THIS LAST!!! IF YOU DO IT BEFORE, THEN WHEN YOU MOD PODGE THE INK WILL RUN EVERYWHERE!)

And you're done!! How cute and easy is that!

I think I am officially ready for St. Patrick's Day!
