Thrift Store Cake Pedestal for Spring

Yesterday I stopped by my local thrift store and found a few great things.
Two of which are pictured below.  A glass plate and a glass sundae dish.
I have seen cake pedestals everywhere lately, and decided that these dishes would work perfect!

 AFTER

I just glued the plate to the glass and added a ribbon bundle and then hot glued a button in the middle.

So simple and fun for spring!

Shamrock Tree with tutorial!

The other day I was at Michael's, which was kind of weird for me. I only go to Michael's when I can't find what I need at Robert's. So I was going down their dollar aisle and found so many cool things for a dollar! I snatched up a ton of things and can't wait to show you!

Anyways, I've made another St. Patrick's Day Project! Only this one only cost me $2.00 to make!!! I love it!!! It is so fun and cute and it was so easy to make!

Here is the tutorial:

Supplies Needed:

1 4x6 unfinshed wood frame (I found mine at Michael's for a buck!)
Paint
3 pieces of coordinating green scrapbook paper
buttons
ribbon
mod podge
hot glue
distressing ink

step 1: Take the inside out of your frame. We are going to mod podge everything on to this thick piece of chipboard.

Step 2: Paint your frame. I only did the sides and the inside where i can see. You will be coverin the rest with paper.

Step 3: While your paint is drying, cut out a piece of 4x6 paper that you want to use as your background. Then mod podge your piece of chipboard and place your piece of 4x6 paper on top and mod podge over it. This will seal the edges.

Step 4: While your mod podge is drying, cut out your tree, shamrocks, and the word "luck" (i used alphalicious with a 1 inch cut.)

Step 5: After your paint is dry, trace your frame onto the back of a piece of scrapbook paper that you want for the front of your frame and the cut it out.

Step 6: Apply a thin layer of mod podge on your frame and place the paper on top of that. Then apply another thin layer of mod podge on top of the paper.

Step 7: While your mod podge is drying, place your tree and shamrocks on your piece of 4x6 chipboard and mod podge the pieces on the way that you like it. Also hot glue on some buttons for more texture.

Step 8: Mod podge the word luck on your frame and hot glue some ribbon and buttons on the top.

Step 9: Distress!!!! I distressed mine like crazy! (MAKE SURE YOU DO THIS LAST!!! IF YOU DO IT BEFORE, THEN WHEN YOU MOD PODGE THE INK WILL RUN EVERYWHERE!)

And you're done!! How cute and easy is that!

I think I am officially ready for St. Patrick's Day!

Halloween Pumpkin!

This Halloween pumpkin was super easy to make and only took me about a half an hour. I really liked how it turned out and now i want to do it to more of my fall pumpkins!!! Here is how I made it:

Supplies:
1 white pumpkin (i got mine at Robert's Arts and Crafts)
6 different kinds of black and white ribbon
Black card-stock (for tag)
White paper (for tag)
2 Black buttons
Terrifically Tacky Tape
Hot Glue

Step one: apply your tacky tape to the crevices of the pumpkin and then attach a black peice of ribbon from the top by the stem to the bottom of the pumpkin. (i used grosgrain black that is 3/8")

Step 2: Cut an 8" piece of thick ribbon and then out of your other 5 kinds of ribbons cut them to about 6" to 8" long (you want them to be different sizes so they don't all look the same) Then tie each of your smaller ribbons onto your big piece of ribbon until you like how it looks.

Step 3: Cut out a black piece of card-stock that is about 2" x 3", cut out a coordingating black and white piece of scrapbook paper that is 1 3/4 " x 2 3/4 " (i used decorative scissors to do this) and letters that say "BOO" (i used my cricut machine to do this and used the "Alphalicious" cartridge.) I made two little eyes inside the "O's" with two black buttons that I attached with hot glue. Glue your pieces together and then tie a piece of white ribbon around the right side of the tag to finish it off.

Step 4: Attach your 8" piece of ribbon to your pumpkin with hot glue. I just glued all around the entire stem and attached the ribbon.

Step 5: Attach your tag with a piece of ribbon and you're done!!
