Megabits Quilt and Chocolate Bars Quilt

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!  We had a fun weekend with lots of family, friends, and food.  I was able to squeeze in some quilting time while we were up visiting our family.  My aunt is housing her good friend's long arm machine at her house and invited me to come and try it out.

I won't lie, I was a bit nervous to try it out.  I had no idea what to expect and I was worried I would not be very good at it.   However, I was nervous for nothing, it was really straight forward and I had a lot of fun testing it out.

I have a tendency to quilt on my domestic machine really small.  For some reason, I try and do larger designs, but end up scaling them way down when it comes to doing it on my quilt.  When I was quilting this quilt on the long arm, it was much easier for me to do larger scale designs.

After it was all said and done, I really enjoyed using the long arm machine! My aunt invited us back again and I can't wait to try my hand at it again. :)

While I was at my aunt's house she asked me to photograph a couple of her quilts for her.  I was more than happy to do so.  I don't know why, but photographing quilts is quickly becoming one of my favorite things to do.

Here is the first quilt.  I about died when I saw this quilt.  The fabric she used for this quilt is so stinkin cute.  She made this quilt for a friend of her's who she teaches with.  She made a great choice on the fabric, because it is all school inspired.  I hope you are ready for a picture overload!

This next quilt is such a fun design.  It is a great man quilt.  I love everything about this quilt, the design, the fabrics, and the backing she used.  She did an awesome job on this one and I may have to make one of these for my husband!

I had a lot of fun photographing these lovely quilts.   I am looking forward to photographing some more of her work. :)

I am hoping to finish up a few quilts of my own soon and can't wait to share them with you guys!

I do the same thing when quilting my quilts; make the patterns really small! Especially with things like loops. I try and go big but I guess I just find the movement too awkward to push the quilt far away enough for a steady big loop?! It's something I'm trying to work on!!
